"Clean, easy, and felt hassle-free"
Stopped through and it was a nice, clean terminal with no real fuss. Toilets were easy to find, there were places to sit, and grabbing a coffee was simple. I’m usually a bit cautious in busy terminals, but this one felt straightforward and low-stress.

"Painfully slow getting off"
The crossing itself was fine, no real complaints there. But getting off the ferry was an absolute slog. It took forever, and the way the cars were being directed felt clueless, like nobody had a proper plan. Bit of a shambles for something that should be simple

I used Red Funnel last week and overall it was fine, but comfort-wise I didn’t feel especially impressed. The crossing itself was smooth, which definitely helped me feel relaxed, and the toilets were clean enough, so that was a plus. But after sitting for a while, the seats started to feel hard, and when it got busy the space felt a bit cramped. I’d use them again because nothing went wrong, but I did come away wishing the seating areas felt a bit more comfortable and welcoming.

We were heading over to the Isle of Wight and, to be honest, I was more focused on making sure we’d packed everything and got to the terminal with enough time to spare than anything else. The weather was decent, the kids weren’t too restless, and we grabbed a coffee before boarding, so it all felt fairly easy from the start. Once we got there, the Red Funnel staff were friendly, boarding was straightforward, and the ferry left on time. So overall, it was a smooth, no-hassle trip, and I’d happily use them again

I brought my dog with me and it was okay overall. The staff didn’t seem bothered or anything, and there was enough room, so that part was fine. But places always say they’re pet-friendly and then don’t really do much to make it feel that way. There wasn’t a water bowl out, and I didn’t see any clear info about where dogs were allowed. It wasn’t a bad experience, just not especially welcoming if you’re coming with a dog.

We used Red Funnel last weekend boarding couldn’t have been much smoother. The staff were really clear about where we needed to go, and we were on the ferry faster than I expected. No hanging around, no confusion, and with kids in the car, isn’t that exactly what you want? It made the whole thing feel stress-free.

"Easy trip as a foot passenger"
I was just traveling as a foot passenger and expected some kind of hassle, especially since I don’t usually have much faith in customer service to sort things out if something goes wrong. But boarding was really straightforward, the staff were actually helpful, and the ferry left on time. No drama, no fuss, just an easy trip.

I used Red Funnel last week and was a bit wary about what the toilets would be like, especially on a busy ferry, but they were fine. Not perfectly spotless, but clean enough that I didn’t feel uncomfortable using them. There was toilet paper and soap available, which is the main thing I look for. It did get a little crowded at times, though that’s pretty much to be expected. Overall, a decent experience and I’d give it 4 stars

I checked out the site thinking it would be a quick and easy booking, and overall it was fine to use. The only thing was that once I got to the seating options, there really weren’t many seats left to choose from. I spent a little time clicking around trying to find something decent, which made the experience feel a bit more limited than I expected. It worked out in the end, but I wish there had been more options available.

"Parking was fine... sort of"
The parking was okay overall, but the spaces were definitely a bit tight. I managed to get in and out fine, so no huge issue. Then again, trying not to ding the car next to me suddenly turned into a whole mini stress event.

"A lovely little start to the ferry trip"
I grabbed a coffee and a bacon roll on the morning crossing, it was just what I needed. Both were decent, the queue moved faster than I expected, and the staff were friendly enough, which always makes a difference when you’re still waking up. The prices were about what you’d expect onboard, but it really hit the spot and gave the trip a nice, comforting start.

"Ticket prices are just too much now"
I’ve used Red Funnel a handful of times and the actual service has usually been fine. Nothing especially dramatic has happened, and the crossings have mostly done what they’re meant to do.
It’s the ticket prices that are starting to feel a bit ridiculous. Everything costs a fortune these days, but for such a short trip it really does add up quickly, especially if you’re taking a car. Even booking in advance doesn’t always feel like it makes much of a difference.
I know prices go up everywhere and companies always seem to have reasons for it, but it’s getting harder to justify using them as often. I’d probably go more if the fares felt a bit more reasonable

I tried using the mobile app it was frustrating. Pages took forever to load, and a few times I tapped buttons and nothing happened at all, so I had to close the app and start over. The layout also looked a bit messy on my phone, which made it harder to use than it should be. It does work here and there, but overall it feels unfinished. I expected better, and I think an apology for the poor experience would be fair.

I tried redfunnel.co.uk for the first time and wasn’t totally sure what to expect, if I’m honest. The price looked fair compared with a few others I checked, so I figured it was worth a go.
For what I paid, it actually turned out better than I thought. No weird add-ons or hidden bits, just what I needed, and it saved me a decent amount of time, which is the main thing, isn’t it?
Overall, I’m happy with it for the cost. I’d probably use them again if I needed the same sort of thing, because it felt like good value to me.

I ended up waiting forever just to get the vehicle loaded, and the staff didn’t really seem to know what was going on. No one gave clear answers, which made it hard to trust that customer service was handling anything properly.

"Refund process was a real headache"
I had to request a refund it turned into way more of a hassle than I expected. The replies were slow, and I kept getting asked for the same details over and over, which made the whole thing feel like it was dragging on for no reason.
To be fair, maybe other people have had a smoother experience, but this pretty much confirmed what I already suspected about their customer service. I didn’t feel like anyone was really listening, and after all the chasing I had to do, it left a bad taste. I wouldn’t use them again.
